[Click shirt for Teecycle store]
I’m not sure why this shirt was created in the first place. If you’re a high school, why would you celebrate the fact that you’re “Grammar School Tournament Champions”? Isn’t that a little unfair? Stay classy, Athanasius School!

$1 of the sale of this shirt is donated to the River Revitalization Foundation to restore urban river trails and waterways.

I have discovered the simplicity, ease and joys of Tumblr and have pretty much my daily blogging activity there — including daily t-shirt photos and links.

So if you need to grab the new RSS feed, here it is: http://teecycle.tumblr.com/rss
See you on Teecycle.org and now Tumblr, too!
-Tim
P.S. I just arrived in Austin for the South By Southwest festival. You around too? Drop me a line at tim@teecycle.org.

Teecycle Homepage
I made a few small changes to the homepage, thanks to some super feedback.
I’m now swapping out the homepage picture more frequently, and if you click on the photo it takes you to the page to buy that shirt.
Also, you can click on all the categories right from the homepage. Thanks especially to Leslie for that suggestion. Can you think of any other categories I should add?
Today’s home page girl is Erica of www.ericaschoice.com: A blog for wine lovers, food lovers, travelers and adventurers. Thanks, Erica!

Valo Photography
I figured you might want to know who’s wearing your future t-shirts. Or maybe you don’t. But I’m going to tell you either way.
First up is Reed! Thanks for modeling, Reed. I’m going to let her Big Sister Denise tell the rest of the story:
She is hysterical and insightful and warm. She adores Ellen DeGeneres and dislikes Ann Coulter. She’s not afraid of going downtown, eating new foods (including vegetables), and meeting new people. She’s seriously cool– on our first outing together, I took her to Bucketworks to model t-shirts for my friend Tim’s site, (find us on the “Chicks in Shirts page”) where we had a blast picking out shirts to model and props to use.
I get that she moved up here from Tennessee and her friends are all still there, but I don’t know what she needs me for. She’s got her stuff SO much more together than I did at 16. So I’ve decided I’ll be her cheerleader. What teenager doesn’t benefit from someone saying “you can do it”? She tells me she wants to study philosophy and mythology in college and I say “super!” She says she and her mom are going to start playing World of Warcraft, and I say “Fun!” She tells me she’’s read most of the books in the Twilight/Thirteen Reasons Why section of the library, so I tell her “we’ll find a bigger library!”
This girl’s going to do some pretty amazing stuff, and I’m excited that I get to hang out and be there for it.
Want more? Get it at Denise’s blog. Want the shirt? Get it here.

I love this poster. It’s the first thing you see when you walk into my office.
This is one of the series of posters inspired by The 100 Best Business Books of All Time. It’s kind of like a Cliff’s Notes for business book classics.
This poster was created by Milwaukee artist Dylan Schleicher and inspired by Moneyball. It’s the (true) story of how the small-market Oakland A’s became an unlikely contender by paying attention to what big-market teams missed in their rush to spend money on expensive, high-profile free agents.
I like to believe that any industry is ripe for reinvention. Especially the t-shirt industry.
Now here’s your shirt of the day, thanks to Valo Photography.

That’s right.
It all started with this email:
I’m a student from the London College of Fashion, currently studying Fashion Photography. I came across Teecycle when a friend recomended it, and i really love what you do.
I have just been set a project at university on sustainability. Where i have to produce a series of 10 images on the subject of sustainability for a company. I was wondering if Teecycle would be willing to let me use some t-shirts to produce some promotional shots for you?
-Madelaine Catherine Ferguson Barlow
This led to photos like this, this, this and this.
Used t-shirts = the new black!!!

Obviously, I don’t invest in new non-used shirts very often. Duh. I traffic in used shirts.
I made exceptions exactly twice in the last year.
One of them I bought during the presidential campaign. The other was this:
Brian tipped me off to this shirt.
The backstory:
I run Bridges @ St. Paul’s School, a non-profit education program that helps students from under-served communities in East Baltimore develop skills and aspirations for success.
I am writing to share an exciting project we have undertaken that could (a) build a solid college fund for one of our students and (b) provide significant financial resources for Bridges.
The project revolves around a t-shirt that commemorates Barack Obama’s Inauguration. The depiction of President Obama was painted by a seventh grade student in a Bridges art class. The shirts cost $12 each (plus shipping) and have been widely popular in Baltimore and D.C.
After clearing out 400+ shirts locally, we got some exciting local press. The Baltimore Sun wrote about the shirt on its education blog. For every t-shirt we sell, $1 will be put into a college fund for Jazzmine (our seventh grade artist). The balance of the proceeds will go toward financing the Bridges Program.
If you are interested in purchasing a shirt (or many shirts), please go to our website, www.bridgesobamashirt.com.
Please pass this along to your friends as well. It’s a cool shirt and the funds will support a great student and a worthwhile organization (though I guess I am biased – I am the director).
Speaking of supporting inner city youth programs, If you’re in Milwaukee, help raise some money with Lakefront Brewery beer and pizza on Sunday, March 1st. Click here for info.
Also, this Led Zeppelin shirt is still available, with 100% of the funds going to the Penfield Children’s Center in Milwaukee.
Now here’s a Teecycle Elvis shirt:

Growing up, my mom always told me I was creative, and always encouraged that side to come out. She did that for all of us.
One year she gave me a science fair kit for Christmas and didn’t yell at me when I strung up wire all over the house and out the door to create a home-made AM radio.
She saved the local papers for me so I could cut out the photos and make captions, even if it ended up with stacks of papers, cut-outs and bits of paper all over the house.
She took photos when we staged a bizarre home version of the Olympics.
Finally, she even (albeit reluctantly) modeled for teecycle.
In short, my mom has always made it seem perfectly acceptable — even special — to be weird and different. And without that deeply ingrained in me now, there’s no way I ever would have had the guts to start something weird and different like Teecycle.
So thanks, Mom. Happy Birthday!
